This agreement is between Spreely Media, operator of The Beacon Book Club on Spreely Marketplace (“Spreely”, “we”) and the author or publisher who submits a book for sale (“you”). By submitting a book you accept these terms.
1. What we do
We list your book in The Beacon Book Club, take payment from customers, deliver ebooks and audiobooks as secure downloads, and have paperbacks printed to order and shipped by our print partner. We handle customer service for orders.
2. Your rights and your promise to us
You keep all rights to your book. You give Spreely a non-exclusive licence to display, sell and deliver the formats you submit, and to use the cover, title, description and short excerpts to promote it. You confirm that you own or control the rights to sell each format you submit, that the book does not infringe anyone else’s rights, and that it is not subject to an exclusivity agreement that forbids selling it here (for example KDP Select for ebooks or an exclusive Audible agreement for audiobooks).
3. Pricing
You set the retail price for each format. We may run store-wide promotions; we will ask before discounting your book by more than 20%.
4. Revenue split and payment
For each sale, we first deduct direct costs: card-processing fees, and for paperbacks the print cost. Shipping paid by the customer covers shipping and is not part of the split. Of the remainder, you receive 80% and Spreely keeps 20%. Sales tax collected from customers is remitted by Spreely and is not part of the split.
We pay monthly, within 15 days after the end of each month, for sales that are past the refund window, once your balance is at least $25. We send a statement with each payment. You are responsible for your own income taxes, and we may need a W-9 before paying you.
5. Amazon links
If you provide an Amazon link, we may show it as an affiliate link. Purchases made on Amazon are between the customer and Amazon; you are paid by Amazon under your own agreement with them, and Spreely may earn a referral fee.
6. Refunds and returns
Digital purchases are refundable within 7 days if the customer could not access the files. Printed books are made to order and are replaced only if damaged or misprinted. Refunded sales are removed from your balance.
7. Files and copy protection
Ebook and audiobook files are delivered through expiring, order-specific download links with a limited number of downloads. Files are not DRM-protected. We store your files only to fulfil orders and will delete them on request when your book is removed.
8. Content standards
We review every submission and may decline or remove any title at our discretion, including titles that are unlawful, defamatory, plagiarised, or sexually explicit.
9. Ending the arrangement
Either of us can end this agreement for any book with 14 days’ written notice by email. We will remove the listing, fulfil orders already placed, and pay any balance owed at the next payment date. Customers who already bought a digital copy keep access to their downloads.
10. General
You are an independent seller, not an employee or partner of Spreely. Each side’s liability to the other is limited to the amounts paid or payable under this agreement in the previous 12 months. We may update these terms with 30 days’ notice by email. This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Nevada.
